Cat Brush - Why use
one?
A cat brush is an essential piece of
hygiene equipment for any cat owner. Whilst many cats will
lick dirt and fur from their bodies, this process is
nowhere near as effective as grooming your cat with a
cat brush. You should ensure that you use
a cat brush as part of your cat's grooming routine. Both
short hair cats and long hair cats require grooming with a
cat brush. Not only will a cat brush
dispose of excess fur, it will also allow you to check
your cat for fleas, wounds and any other signs of
infection.
Using a cat brush will allow you to make sure that your
cat's fur is both smooth and in good condition. A cat brush
allows you to remove dirt and knots from the fur of your cat.
Many people believe that you need both a cat
brush and a cat comb to groom your cat. There
wide variety of cat brushes on the market today will allow you
groom your cat without the need for two tools (a cat brush AND
a cat comb).
Cat Brush v. Normal
Hairbrush
Do not even consider using a normal human hairbrush for a
cat brush. You will simply be wasting your
time. A cat brush allows you to remove cat fur gently whilst
keeping the essential oils in the remaining fur of your cat.
These body oils are essential for a shiny and healthy coat.
More importantly cat brushes are designed to get rid of excess
hair which stops your cat when preening itself from developing
hairballs.
Cat Brush and Cat Grooming
Kits
I often speak to many cat owners who have been advised that
they need more than just a cat brush to adequately look after
their cat's fur. Many pet stores advise customers to buy cat
brushes as part of a cat grooming kit. These cat grooming kits
will often comprise a cat brush, cat comb and other grooming
equipment. I believe that these kits are a waste of money. The
cat brush contained in these kits is
often of inferior quality to buying a cat brush independently.
By buying a good quality cat brush not only will you see better
results when grooming your cat, you will also save money.
